Do You Love Autumn & The Changing Leaves? Autumn Foliage is Fantastic in Arizona
Flagstaff Arizona's High Country Provides a Spectacular Display of Fall Leaves!
While some may think that Arizona is only laden with cacti and sun drenched sand, most don't think that there is almost any type of weather here...all within a few hours!
I've lived in Arizona for almost 20 years. Although I live in Phoenix, I make an annual trek to see the Fall colors in and around Flagstaff, Arizona and get to suck in the cool Autumn Air and hear God blow the wind through the Aspens!
This website is full of actual photos that I took recently and while there may not be the brights you might find in other States, you will see what we have to offer. Along with the photos is some fun including quizzes to test your knowledge!
Have fun and I hope you enjoy this website and please leave some comments at the bottom of the page.
Thanks for visiting!

Flagstaff High Country and the Beautiful Aspen!
When you talk about leaves changing in Arizona, people look at you and say "What?" "Do you mean needles dropping out of a cactus?" This website is strictly about Flagstaff and the surrounding area although there is other high country in Arizona.
People that go to Flagstaff to see the Autumn colors primarily like the Aspen trees. The color of the Aspen is green throughout the Summer and then change to a golden yellow in the fall. You can take numerous trail roads through the forests and you can be pretty secluded. It feels as if you are all alone in your journey. Only an occasional vehicle passes by. My primary attraction to them is that when the wind blows, they have a wonderful rustling sound that engages almost every leaf. I have taken video of the aspen leaves blowing and the fact that you are out there alone, listening to this is overwhelming.
In journeys down the trails, you will probably see sights that not many see. You truly feel as if God is touching the leaves just for you! Leaves change at different times and Aspen leaves around Flagstaff usually peak about mid-October. If you get there too late, after a heavy frost, you will only see bare trees.
I have separated this website into 2 sections. The first section has photos from the outlying areas of Flagstaff and the beautiful golden-yellow colors. The second section has more dramatic colors from the Flagstaff city area! Please put on some "Summer Winds" music and imagine that you are hearing the sounds of the leaves!

"Delicious autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive autumns."

Dramatic Colors From the City of Flagstaff
The next set of photos are from the Flagstaff city area. As you drive through town, there are numerous housing areas that we frequent during the Fall Season. In these areas, you can see the Reds of the Maple Trees, the dramatic oak colors and the magenta colors that are from the darker trees. To make this journey of Flagstaff complete, you can do this same type of drive-through tour. You won't be disappointed, especially coming from the colorless Phoenix area, about 2 hours South of here
