Top Ten Best Classic Sci-Fi Body Parts Films
Let's Start with the Head and Work our Way Down
Being close to Halloween, people tend to look towards the macabre and things that are a little gory and unorthodox.
While many turn to Science Fiction, it might not be known that there is a close correlation between Sci-Fi and Horror genres on the good ol' Silver Screen.
This website, takes a twist and puts body parts in the highlight. While these may not be dismembered body parts that have been hacked off by a chain saw, they are movies that highlight body parts in the Science Fiction genre.
Most of these movies are classic but I have thrown in some more modern parts for those that have seen newer versions only. I remember seeing them when I was a child at the drive-in theater, either as a second or third feature. We were usually ready to fall asleep when these came on but I do remember seeing crawling hands and eyeballs
Starting from the head, I have chosen top classic movies and worked my way down to the legs. I have chosen movies particularly about those body parts and not all parts have a particular movie.
Please take your time and look around this site. You may find a part that you need. If you do, please leave a comment below.
Bodies of Science Fiction
The first Science Fiction movie was created in 1902 and was a silent film called, "A Trip to the Moon." This movie started a craze that has never stopped. It was long before anything that Ray Bradbury was to imagine and certainly, foretold the fact that man would someday step on the moon.
Interest swarmed around Sci-Fi serials on Saturday mornings at the theatre, such as "Buck Rogers." No, this isn't the type of cereal you eat and these were the way that past generations enjoyed themselves on a Saturday when there was no television.
The Sci-Fi movies evolved and actually turned into a "B" type movie. These are the movies I remember from the drive-in theater.
With the advent of these "B" movies, there was not only an interest in the alien world but the imaginations of the writers started to emphasize that Science Fiction could happen here on the Earth. Things started to get a little distorted and heads grew, people shrunk and eyeballs began to crawl. All of a sudden there was more of an interest on earthly things and especially our bodies, and what could happen to them.
While the severed limb of Horror movies was scary, they usually didn't crawl around on their own. The unexplained science of this occurring was known only to Science Fiction and these weren't always the result of alien forces.
Today, movies teeter on genre borders and I will mention examples below of Science Fiction Horror and Science Fiction Fantasy. These newer genres distort reality even more.
Have fun and participate. If you have seen the movies, please comment. I certainly remember some of them.

Horror vs. Science Fiction
Science Fiction and Horror Films have been closely related to each other since their earliest beginning of film.
Many films can be labeled as "Science Fiction Horror" and the best-known examples are "Frankenstein" and "Alien."

The Unknown
Most of the early Science Fiction movies dealt with aliens from the unknown abyss of outer space where our imagination could run amuck!
The more modern Sci-Fi "unknown" has been extended right here on earth with movies that explore the earth's center, the ocean deep and unknown dimensions.
The Crawling Eye (1958)

Distortion
Many Science Fiction films are what we might call "distorted reality."
I can remember films when I was younger such as giant spiders, eyeballs and also the classic, "The Incredible Shrinking Man." Most early alien movies depicted a creature that was a distortion of the human figure.
The Lost Skeleton Returns Again (2009)
Did you enjoy this "Lost Skeleton" movie?
Science Fiction and Fantasy
A modern theory on Science Fiction is that it tries to get us to actually believe the images and what is happening, while in a fantasy film, you suspend your belief since you know most of it can't be true.
With movies like "Tron" and "Avatar," Sci Fi and Fantasy have been combined.
