Coincidence and the God Wink

During the Summer, most people are outdoors doing fun things. In Phoenix, Arizona, that can be quite a challenge.

On most days from May to October, it reaches 100 degrees or more. You really don't want to go outside unless you really need to . So people in Phoenix spend more time indoors during the Summer months.

When asked what I do on a weekend, I usually reply that I like to use the computer or read. Seeing that I am not a perfect specimen, I feel the need to exercise and riding a bike outdoors is not an ideal form of exercise.

Because of this, I have an indoor exercise bike and while riding, I read my Kindle and listen to my IPOD. While you think that the music and the reading would conflict, it doesn't with me. I find that I can think better with music on in the background. When a good song comes on, I put down the Kindle and sing along. When I am wearing my Bose headphones, I am sure that my singing is not perfect to anyone in my vicinity.

This weekend, I decided to read a "God Winks" book by Squire Rushnell. It is about the divine nature of coincidence and if you have never read any of his books, you would probably enjoy them as they are filled with real events told by real people.

No, I didn't say "Dog" Wink

Have you ever had a coincidence? Do you have a lot of them? I tend to have several a day. Most of them are small, but there are several that are larger and more mind-boggling.

Most of these occur when two things are going on at once. For instance, while working on your laptop, you type the word "liquidate." At that same exact time, someone on television says the word, "liquidate." You shake this off until it happens again at a later time.

I was told once that it was because I was just more perceptive than others but now I tend to think differently. I believe that God is with me and it is his way of communicating with me.

Squire Rushnell, author of the "God Winks" series says a God Wink is a sign post along the way, telling you that everyone is okay. It is God's way of saying, "Hey, I'm here, you're not experiencing things without me."

Perry Stone says that if we were to see Angels or heavenly beings, we would be so scared that we wouldn't be able to take it. He says that God speaks to younger men through visions, and older men through dreams.

He does speak to us in other ways and a God Wink is one of those. It can be an answered prayer or just a coincidence, either large or small.

If you are going through rough times, know that your prayers are heard by God, even though he answers them in His time. A God Wink will let you know he is there. You are not alone in your journey.

I have had God Winks for many years and remember some of them, but not very many.

Most of them occurred while I was at work or on my way to or from work. I would pray and then a God Wink would occur.

Recently, I started a journal to record my God Winks. I leave my computer open to the journal and when one occurs, I type it out. Even though most are small, I have them recorded. I wanted to keep a record of them to show how much God is in my life and His presence is important to me.

It is a very joyous feeling to have one; you know that He is with you through thick or thin. If you have God Winks, you should record them like I do. It gives you a very good feeling to know that God is present.
