Being "Upside-Down" means that you owe more on your house than it is worth. The Federal Government may not be knocking on your door, but there are several programs in place to help you in reducing your mortgage or other programs that will give you comfort during this current housing market.

The answer is NOT to walk away!

In today's housing market, many homeowners have experienced a decrease in their home's value.

The MAKING HOME AFFORDABLE (MHA) Government Program has been developed to help homeowners with their problems related to their "Upside-Down" mortgage!

Why being a Nosy Neighbor is a Good Thing

Being a nosy neighbor is not all bad.

When I was growing up, I used to walk around the neighborhood and look at things. You have a tendency to notice differences in things and start to get an eye for it. I realized that "something is different."

Noticing differences on my home or neighborhood gives me the edge up. I am able to spot things like termites and other pests, issues about my house or just "not noticing" anything can be good. Over time, everything deteriorates so not seeing anything can also be a benefit that you are doing something correct.

I will also look at the neighbor's homes and glance at the neighborhood. Anything negative or any improvements can vastly improve home values.

For instance, something as small as your trash can being displayed for all to see can impact your home. People associate anything that they see in a negative light with the whole home. I learned in the military that it was important to make a good impression, especially during inspections.

I would advise you to be nosy. Well, don't peep inside windows but start paying attention to your surroundings. It could pay off for you when it comes time to sell your home.
