Babies and Toddlers Love Fried Bananas
On Easter, everyone is hoping to find something sweet and tasty to either eat or to make for others. Although we always remember ourselves and our pets, are we remembering our babies or toddlers?
The idea for this came from a former relative who cooked plantains. Although you can use plantains, I think bananas are sweeter and tastier. Babies also love bananas and they are a tasty treat that has been fed to them for years.
To decorate for Christmas Day, don't forget to add that touch of strawberry or cherry baby food.
These can either be mashed for the little ones or you can give the banana sections to your toddler to eat with their hands. I wouldn't recommend using strawberry or cherry sauce if your toddlers are going to carry them around but that is up to you!
Your kids emailed and wanted to remind me to tell you that these are for them, not for you...well, you can have just a taste!
Babies and Bananas
Many parents choose bananas as a first food for their baby. Bananas are very tasty because they are sweet. Bananas for babies can also be very nutritious.
Since we all have a sweet tooth, this is probably where it all began. The natural sugars may not be strong to us as an adult, but a baby has never had anything sweet before and this can be quite a taste sensation to them.
I know people who used bananas instead of infant cereals. This can be an economic way to serve babies their first solid foods. This is good for both parents and babies creating a happy combination!

Ingredients
- 1 or 2 (or as many bananas as you would like)
- Small pat of butter
- Babyfood with real or artificial strawberriers or cherries - Do not recommend real strawberries for babies less than 6 months old
Instructions
- Peel the banana then halve it
- Cut banana into flat sections that are easy for frying in a pan or on a grill
- Use the pat of butter in the pan and ensure the pan is coated before putting the bananas in
- Fry the bananas until they just start to turn brown - It doesn't take very long!
- Remove the bananas and let cool, nothing is worse than a hot banana!
- Either mash the bananas or let toddlers eat them with their hands
- For an extra garnish, put the mashed or sectioned bananas in a small dish and add the strawberry or cherry baby food
- The nice little touch of red helps to celebrate a Valentine's Day dessert
- By all means, cook these any times of the year and add any toppings that you would like. Some use honey or a little bit of sugar but they are so sweet after cooking, that is not necessary.
