The Illustrated Man by Ray Bradbury
I have Seen the Movie, Now it's Time to Read the Book
The Illustrated Man was written by Ray Bradbury in 1951. The movie, didn't come out until 18 years later.
Being one of my favorite movies, I have never read the book. I have always wanted to and now I have pledged that I will. Hopefully, there is something in there that was not in the movie. Most books usually have more detail than the movies.
Ray Bradbury items have become part of my collection including his response to a letter I wrote to him (below) and the movie poster of the Illustrated Man shown that is in my private collection.
I really enjoyed films and other books by Ray Bradbury. Now it is time to read this book.

Ray Bradbury and the Illustrated Man
Ray Bradbury passed away in 2012 at the age of 82. He kept up with fans and with modern technology. He even had a Twitter account that he posted on up until the day he died.
When I was a child, I remember the movie "The Illustrated Man" by Ray Bradbury. The movie was released in 1969 and it was a scary flick!
While I read Fahrenheit 451 by Bradbury in school, we didn't read the Illustrated Man. My Mother actually got me interested in Ray Bradbury. She loved Science Fiction.
In the movie, "The Illustrated Man," Rod Steiger was the main character. He was cursed with tattoos on his body that moved and told different stories. He spend most of the time during the movie telling those stories as the tattoos began to spin and he also searched for the woman who cursed him.
It was a pretty scary flick for a child and it really got me into Bradbury and his other stores, such as "The Martian Chronicles."
The movie is one of my favorites. It is a strange movie but in my opinion, is right up there with Rod Taylor and "The Time Machine."
A Letter I received in 1982 after writing Ray Bradbury
This interesting letter that I received from Ray Bradbury himself, shows a depiction of his residence in Los Angeles, California.
The interesting aspect of this image is that it is his residence, without walls. It reminds you of a dollhouse, where you can see inside the rooms. This shows Bradbury's very active imagination as well as giving you a tour of his home, without you actually being there.
It all makes the response feel more personal!
