In Honor of April being Organ Donor Awareness Month
Liverwurst is the topic of the Month. Well. not exactly.
April is Organ Donor Awareness Month and in honor of that, we are celebrating liverwurst. I'm not asking you to donate your liver, you can't live without it, but it is a heartfelt gesture to donate it when you no longer need it. I will explain how to do that below.
Liverwurst is a popular food and I have made a sandwich for you to enjoy. i love liverwurst and cheese. Why not mix them on some tasty bread and take a bite?

I have never been a fan of organ meat. However, liverwurst is an exception.
When I was growing up, my Father would get a big tube of the stuff and sit there and eat it with a spoon. This is something I find myself doing today.
Up until I actually lived in Germany, I had no idea that Liverwurst had so many names. All of them are listed below. My Father called it "goose liver." I asked for it by that name once in the store and got some curious looks in return.
Being a liver sausage, it is a typical German fare. The origins of this liver delight goes back many centuries. It is used in many dishes but I enjoy it most with a spoon, although I occasionally put mustard or cheese on it.
I would like to know how you like your liverwurst and please tell me if you try my liverwurst and cheese sandwich!

Do you like liverwurst
A Concoction of mine that tastes pretty good. That is, if you like liverwurst and swiss cheese!
Ingredients
- Liverwurst pate
- Slice of swiss cheese
- Bread
- Mustard (optional)
- Chips (optional)
Instructions
- Pretty simple but tasty stuff:
- 1) Spread the liverwurst on the bread. It doesn't have to be even.
- 2) Add mustard, if desired
- 3) Lay swiss cheese slice on top
- 4) Cut sandwich in half & enjoy!
