Gifts From the Red Planet

Updated on August 10, 2013

Celebrate Red Planet Day on November 28, 2012 by Shopping for your Mars Gifts for Christmas

Yes, Red Planet Day is on November 28 and the best way to celebrate is to buy your favorite martian some great Red Planet gifts for Christmas!

While there are many videos, there are many gifts that you can wear, decorate with or even eat that are out of this world, but still in the solar system. I have added some fun thing and a few quizzes, sure to please the alien in all of us.

Shop while you drop, or maybe I should say, shop while you space walk. You can still dress up in your antennae and cover yourself in foil while you shop, as long as you don't get to close to the electrical socket.

Red Planet Day - November 28

Red Planet Day was created to commemorate the Spacecraft Mariner 4 launch on November 28,1964.

On July 14, 1965, Mariner 4 brought us closer to Mars than ever before; a proximity of 6,118 miles.

Martians are from Mars, Women are from Earth

Happy Red Planet Day.

Why is everyone fixated on the Red Planet? Maybe because it looks a lot like ours? Maybe because it is so close to Earth or maybe we like the Red Planet, just because it is red.

Throughout time, astrologists have stared and studied it. Now, people want to travel to it. If you want to ask me, you can count me out. I go crazy in my small office so you can imagine how I'd be after several years in a small capsule without fresh air!

You can't have Mars without martians and even though they have been in stories, movies and books, they are and always have been a figment of our imagination.

Take a flight into space with me and just know, I'm not staying long. So if you are going nonstop to Mars, then take some photos, I would love to see them.

The Red Planet (2001)

A fantastic movie starring Val Kilmer. There were several movies of this type around this time period but this is one of my favorites. Much like the old Sci-Fi shows, there is a crash, despair and strange creatures and happenings. A great movie to watch on Red Planet Day! What could be better?

Mars Attacks - One of my favorite Red Planet movies

Mars Attacks!
Mars Attacks!
A star-studded version of martian invasion by Tim Burton. If you like Burton's movies, this is just as dark as the rest of them but has some funny moments. Starring Jack Nicholson as the President and some other major characters; you will be surprised who is actually in this one. It also has Sarah Jessica Parker in a pre-Sex and the City role that is not very sexy. Great fun for Red Planet Day or any day of the year!
