If I were Monet, I would Paint the Arizona Wild Poppy
The Poppy and Claude Monet; Not a Mismatched Pair
Arizona Poppies are in bloom and make a beautiful natural painting.
I have been seeing them every day; some yellow, some orange and some are a mixture.
They grow wild here and many people transplant them to their properties. They flourish and bloom every Spring, usually after some hard rains. They are very hardy and although you may move them to your location, they will spread on their own.
Claude Monet was a French impressionist who loved to paint flowers. For many years, I thought he only painted lillies or his own gardens at Giverny, France. However, Monet, painted many other scenes and loved the Poppy.
Although Mr. Monet never painted the Arizona Poppy, I like to think that the poppies, in their splendor, are like a Monet painting, glistening in the sunlight. The only difference are that the poppies are clear.
I have interwoven the Arizona Poppy and Monet's paintings throughout this website; their partnership creates my own masterpiece.
Take a walk with me through the Arizona Poppy fields and imagine to yourself what they would look like on the canvas of Claude Monet.
Arizona Poppies - Art in the Desert
If you have never seen an Arizona Poppy, you are in for a treat when you finally fix your gaze upon one.
I didn't even know they existed until a few years ago and I have been in Arizona for over 20 years.
I guess that life was too busy for me to notice. Lately, I have been seeing a lot of things that I have never seen before. As you get older, you perception and appreciation of what you experience increases. No longer captured in the "hurry-up" world, I can take my camera and photograph things that I have seen, but never really appreciated.
The Arizona Poppy is one of those things that I now appreciate. The photos on this site are some poppies that I photographed right down the road from my house. I appreciate their beauty and hope that you do also.
If you would like to know more about the Arizona Poppy, their are some links below.
Please enjoy and "stop and smell the poppies," as I have done.

The Art of Impressionism and Claude Monet
Growing up in a French family, I gained an appreciation of culture from an early age.
Not only was I exposed to various types of music, I experienced many things that children with their cell phones don't learn about today.
One thing that I experienced at an early age was an appreciation for art. My Mother was an art teacher and she loved French Impressionists such as Manet and Monet.
When I first experienced an impressionistic painting, I thought that my eyes were blurry. There has been a debate over time whether the eyesight of these artists were actually poor, or they just painted this way.
I do like bright colors, but the subdued pastels of an impressionist's painting are very soothing and calming.
While I did see an exhibition of Monet's works here in Phoenix, Arizona, I did not know until recently of his varied subject matter, most occurring in his earlier works.
I really love French Impressionism and wanted to tie this type of work into this website that dealt with the Arizona wild poppy.
